Restless bones etherialize

I just found out that Thurl Ravenscroft died on Sunday of prostate cancer at the age of 91. He's one of those performers that seems to pop up everywhere. And what an incredible career he had. For 53 years he was the booming voice of Tony the Tiger. The holidays just aren't complete without his fantastic performance of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". Disneyland would be a far different place without his contributions to the Pirates of the Carribean, the Haunted Mansion, the Enchanted Tiki Room, any many more.

To learn more about the man and hear some of his great work, check out All Things Thurl. When I first discovered that site, I found they had an address to write Thurl...and I thought it would be great to thank him for all the joy his work has brought me. Sadly, it was one of those things I never got around to doing.

MASTER THURL AT REST UPON THIS HILL his booming voice forever still

Relax cats and kittens...the editorial cartoons are making their way to the scene.

But in the meantime, groove on my first lock on the Beatnik from "The Mummy". Admittedly the look comes from a little statue in our collection with the inscription "Mr. Beatnik". Posted by Hello

My favorite of the group...that luckily didn't get ruined when I spilled my water. :P Posted by Hello

Like, what was that man? Crazy... Posted by Hello

Yeah, yeah...I know.

It's been a ridiculously long time since I've posted. But I've got a good reason. Really. And I'll tell you all about it soon. I promise. But good news for all of you. I've decided that my penance for this gap will be posting the cache of editorial cartoons I did around age nine. You'll get some good laughs at my expense and perhaps I'll think twice about ignoring my blog again.

Anyways, in honor of the release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, I've pulled some of my favorite Star Wars sketches for your amusement.

Hands down my favorite piece of Star Wars related artwork from my childhood, and probably the earliest (likely from 1977). Look at the detail...not bad for a six year old. I'm planning on this having a place of honor in my Star Wars themed bedroom. :) Posted by Hello

I distinctly remember working from the photo of Yoda on the front cover of May 1980 People magazine...in fact I still have the magazine in my Star Wars collection. Posted by Hello

A much more recent sketch of everyone's favorite pastry coifed princess. Posted by Hello
